New Futures is unique in our approach to ending generational poverty in the Washington, DC region. We propel underserved young people into the in-demand careers that lead to financial security, by way of quick and affordable shorter-term credentials.
Our History
1999
Michael Gould founds New Futures with initial funding from the estate of his late brother Allen Gould.
2007
New Futures expands sustainably to hire our first professional staff.
2011
New Futures offers our first signature skill-building workshops for Scholars.
2016
New Futures extends our support for Alumni as they graduate and transition into sustaining careers.
2017
New Futures launches our Career Pathways model with a successful pilot program in IT/Cybersecurity.
2018
New Futures strengthens our advising model, workshops, and approach to Corporate Partners.
2019
New Futures’ approach and staff continue to expand.
2020
Facing the COVID-19 crisis, New Futures pivots to fully virtual programming and establishes a Scholar Emergency Fund, disbursing more than $150,000.
