Director of People, Culture, and Operations
Jamila serves as New Futures’ Director of People, Culture, and Operations. As a Marymount University graduate and a former teen parent, Jamila understands the importance of educational attainment in building stronger futures for our children. She graduated with a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising in May 2015 and became passionate about giving back to her community. Jamila has helped young professionals of color leverage their short-term degrees in order to land rewarding and lifelong careers. She began her career by providing case management, career coaching and has led several program initiatives for adults in the Washington, DC region.
During the wake of the pandemic Jamila discovered her passion for HR, Organizational Culture and Recruiting. As a member of the leadership team at New Futures, she supported the organization to scale their hiring practices and employee life cycle to create a more equitable and inclusive experience for each colleague. She is known as the innovator who is constantly creating better internal workflows to maximize work efficiency.
When not serving her community, Jamila loves to sight-see real estate properties with her husband, watch her son play basketball, and learn the latest dance moves from her daughter.
