I received my New Futures scholarship back in 2009 shortly after having my son. By means of New Futures financial support I received my Bachelor’s in History along with a certification in Latin American Studies from the University of Maryland College Park in May 2012.

I currently work for the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) as the Assistant Director for Multicultural Training and Programming under the Office of Diversity and Equity. In this role, I oversee my department’s event programming, curriculum development, and workshop facilitation. In addition to my primary duties, I also manage UMUC’s softball team and currently serve as the UMUC Staff Representative and Chair-Elect for the University System of Maryland Women’s Forum. My community invested in me which afforded me many great opportunities, as a result, I aspire to pay it forward.
